IN YOUR EYES
Paul Landis Delaune

There are times when I feel disconnected and separate from God and everyone else.
This is usually when I have gone awhile without seeing another face,
hearing another voice,
or
simply when beauty has seemed to be absent from me.
Then I look into your eyes and see all the beauty of creation present there and I am reminded of the beauty in me.
In the twinkling of your eyes, I am transformed again into a holy child of God.

There was a time when I was always aware of my connection with God and everyone else.
Life was wonderous and I was very happy.
Then reality stepped up and slapped me ever so hard.
I witnessed the travail of my soul and my life became a hell in which I didn't know or understand who I was anymore.
When I look into your eyes and see the awareness of God residing there, I am reminded of that divine awareness that was always mine in a past that now seems like a only dream.

There are times when I feel alone and within me a passion burns with the intensity of the fire from which God formed the worlds and the stars.
Then I languish in my own solitude, wondering if anyone cares and wishing I felt whole again.
Then I look into your eyes and I see all the love of God residing there and I am reminded of the love in me.
In the magic of your eyes, I am welcomed once more into the paradise of my unity with God.

There was a time I dreamed wonderous dreams of joy and delight.
I held the world in the palm of my hand and life was mine to do as I pleased.
Then life tossed me into a deep pit and I was swallowed up by darkness.
I was lost within myself and my life became a waking nightmare that made death seem sweet.
When I look into your eyes and I see the imagination of God smiling back at me, I am reminded of the most delightful dreams that were always mine in a past when Camelot was real.

There are times when I didn't feel holy and I didn't see the glory of God in my life.
This is usually when I feel weak and I am plagued by the unwanted from within myself.
Then I look into your eyes and I see the glory of God radiating forth and I am reminded of the glory within me.
In the brightness of your eyes, I am embraced by the majesty of God.

It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul and I believe it, for it is when I look into your eyes that I most feel connected to you and to God.
To look into your eyes means more to me than gazing upon
diamonds
or
gold,
for the beauty of your eyes reminds me of God's grace,
which,
to me,
is always fresh,
always joyful,
always wonderful,
and most of all,
always thankful.

I SEE THE LOVE OF GOD IN YOU
THE LIGHT OF LOVE IS SHINING THROUGH
AND I AM GLAD TO BE WITH YOU
O, HOLY CHILD OF GOD
"I love you."
